Obviously Himalayan salt comes from the Himalayas right? Well...yes, but where? The Himalayas stretch across several countries: India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Bhutan and Nepal. So where does Himalayan salt come from you ask? It actually comes from Pakistan, specifically the Khewra mine. They take great pride in the industry and they should! It's become one of the region's most valuable agricultural products.
Himalayan salt is specifically mined by hand from skilled workers. Knowing that little detail provides some clarity as to why it's more expensive than your regular everyday salts. Another reason why Himalayan salt is a bit more pricy is because of the claims surrounding it.
